After a long period of anticipation spanning about 20 years, the dreams of the Playa del Coco community are finally becoming a reality with the announcement of the launch of the long-coveted new marina. The municipal council of Carrillo made a decisive move by approving this visionary project on November 3rd, paving the way for the project.

Although neighboring Playa Flamingo recently shone with its own project in 2022, the determination of Playa del Coco has never wavered, and both residents and investors are thrilled to see this lengthy process come to fruition.

Five years ago, representatives from the Costa Rican National Tourism Institute (ICT), armed with their plans and visions, visited Playas del Coco to endorse this bold initiative.

The project envisages the installation of a luxurious and spacious marina, capable of accommodating nearly 300 yachts, and also includes various administrative and commercial infrastructures.

Optimism was palpable when ICT officials left the site at the time, leaving behind the hope that bureaucracy would not slow down the momentum of development. The ICT’s approval came swiftly, reinforcing this ambition.

However, echoes from 2008 recall a period of global economic challenge when the American real estate market wobbled and the Great Recession loomed. Despite this, Costa Rica demonstrated remarkable economic resilience, although the tourism sector, a key industry, felt the effects of these financial turbulences, slowing projects like the Coco Marina.

Finally after years of anticipation Playas del coco is getting a new marina. This is going to boost the beaches area. Especially Playas del coco. New roads sidewalk. Great for small businesses of coco.

But the wait seems to be ending. Recently, signs of activity and optimism have been observed among local stakeholders and real estate experts in the Guanacaste region. They anticipate that the construction of the Coco Marina could truly take off by the end of the year, promising to transform Playas del Coco into an even more coveted destination for international travelers. The latest economic indicators show a 9% increase in new real estate development projects in the country. Read the text by Man506 on the subject.

And so, with a look towards the future, Playa del Coco prepares to write a new captivating chapter in its picturesque history.

The approval and formalization of this project are among the arrival of other significant real estate and tourist development projects for the Playa del Coco sector. Notably, there is the construction project of the new Waldorf Astoria which will open its doors on Cacique mountain, located between Playa del Coco and Playa Hermosa, in Guanacaste.
