Air Transat is delighted to announce two enhancements to its flight program connecting Montreal to El Salvador and Liberia, Costa Rica. These flights, which were previously only available during the winter season, will now be offered year-round.

« This service expansion reflects our commitment to offering flexible and diverse travel options to our customers, » says Michèle Barre, Chief Revenue Officer of Transat. The year-round operation of these routes is a direct response to the growing interest in these Latin American destinations, and we are proud to exclusively offer these non-stop flights year-round from Montreal. »

Starting May 1, 2024, flights to San Salvador will operate every Wednesday, and those to Liberia, Costa Rica, every Sunday. These new frequencies provide a unique opportunity for travelers to explore these destinations outside of the peak winter season. Simultaneously, they offer increased flexibility to the Salvadoran and Costa Rican communities in Canada, making it easier to reunite with their loved ones at any time of the year.

« This expansion of Air Transat’s operations will have a significant impact on our tourism and economy by increasing the flow of domestic and foreign visitors to our country, » says Adriana Mira, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador. « It will also bring El Salvador and Canada closer together and strengthen trade and investment ties between our countries. »

« We are very pleased with the increased frequencies announced by Air Transat. VINCI Airports’ air service development strategy, in partnership with the public and private sectors, has solidified Guanacaste’s connection to Canada. One of the most impressive phenomena observed in recent years is the increase in the number of Canadians arriving at our airport. With the addition of this new frequency to Liberia,

Costa Rica, now operating year-round from Montreal, we will surpass our record of tourist arrivals in 2024, » says Ange Croci, Commercial and Communication Director of Guanacaste Airport (LIR).

It is worth noting that Guanacaste Airport’s management announced a 29% increase in the first months of 2023 compared to the previous year, a record according to a press release published last April. Read the full article on this news by clicking here.
