In the lush landscapes of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, a groundbreaking development is taking shape. The Nya project, a beacon of innovation and sustainability, is rapidly progressing, across from Guanacaste Airport (Daniel Oduber International Airport).

This ambitious mixed-use development, sprawling over 900 hectares, is crafting a new standard for living, commerce, and recreation, marked by the completion of its initial phase.

Nya stands as a testament to sustainable urban development, with the entirety of its expansive domain receiving the green light from SETENA for environmental viability. An investment of approximately US $1.2 billion underpins this vision of a sustainable city, promising an integration of residential bliss, commercial vibrancy, and unparalleled leisure activities.

The dawn of 2024 saw the commencement of construction for the first residential tower, Tower I, in Ciudad Nya, supported by financing from Banco Promerica. Slated for completion in 2025, this phase embodies a commitment of $125 million towards laying down the infrastructure essential for utility services, roads, and the pioneering crystalline lagoon in Costa Rica, alongside the inaugural pair of residential towers.

As the project unfolds, the announcement of Tower II’s construction looms on the horizon, signaling the relentless advancement of Nya’s development. The second quarter of 2025 will usher in the opening of new sectors, enabling full utilization of the project’s extensive area.

Looking ahead, Nya’s blueprint envisions the creation of a bustling commercial hub, teeming with restaurants, offices, and retail spaces. Plans also include the establishment of a free trade zone, alongside educational and healthcare facilities, and an adventure park, promising a holistic urban experience in Guanacaste.

Guanacaste, a province located in the northwest of Costa Rica, is a region brimming with tourism potential, celebrated for its breathtaking natural landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage. It is home to some of the country’s most stunning beaches, including Playa Conchal, Playa del Coco and Playa Hermosa.

Central to Nya’s allure is Central America’s first recreational crystalline lagoon, equipped with Crystal Lagoons technology. This 3.5-hectare marvel, currently over 30% complete, will feature artificial beaches tailored for swimming and water sports activities like sailing, paddleboarding, and kayaking, among others.

« Nya is designed to be a living, breathing community where opportunities for growth, work, and play converge. We anticipate that the diverse experiences offered by our 900-hectare project will be a catalyst for employment and economic expansion, »

Designed with inclusivity in mind, the lagoon will boast seven beaches, including areas reserved for residents, hotel guests, and the public, ensuring accessibility for all, including those with mobility challenges.

Nya is poised to redefine the essence of community living, offering a unique blend of opportunities for residents and visitors alike to thrive, relax, and connect. With its visionary approach, Nya is not just developing land; it is cultivating an experience that harmonizes with the natural beauty and vibrant culture of Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

The province is also famous for its national parks, such as Rincon de la Vieja and Santa Rosa, which provide exceptional opportunities for hiking, bird watching, and encountering Costa Rica’s unique flora and fauna. Furthermore, Guanacaste’s dry tropical climate makes it a year-round destination for tourists seeking adventure, relaxation, or a deep dive into Costa Rican culture, through local cuisine, traditional festivals, and artisan markets. With its combination of natural beauty, adventure tourism, and cultural experiences, Guanacaste stands out as a jewel in Costa Rica’s tourism crown.
