Born in Costa Rica, he did not grow up in his homeland. From an early age, his family decided to settle in Canada, seeking a more stable and promising future. There, he grew up embracing North American values of discipline, perseverance, and hard work.
From adolescence, Sergio nurtured a clear ambition: to become a civil engineer and contribute to the construction of major projects. However, the road to that dream took an unexpected turn in 2008, when a family member suggested he return to Costa Rica to pursue his studies.
Attracted by the opportunities for education and a rapidly growing market, he made the bold decision to return to a country he barely knew, yet one that was undeniably part of his identity. His arrival in Costa Rica was a blend of adaptation and discovery. He rediscovered human warmth, a climate completely opposite to that of Canada, and a culture with different rhythms. Sergio Gil has always embodied a balance between two worlds.
What was meant to be a temporary step became a greater adventure when he met Hannia, the woman who would become his wife and the mother of their son, Olivier. Through this encounter, he found a new reason to stay and build his future on the very land where he was born.
Determined to succeed, in 2013 he earned his civil engineering degree from Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. He later went on to complete a master’s in project management with distinction. This achievement marked the beginning of a professional journey that would secure him a prominent place in Costa Rica’s construction sector.
Armed with expertise and driven by a clear vision, he decided to found Constructora IDESA, a company distinguished by its integrated approach and commitment to quality.
